Layers Collection 2022

In a series of new works, Giles experiments with shapes and patterns inspired by the natural figures he observed and photographed in the National Botanic Gardens. Working from his photographs, Giles has created twelve unique designs printed in a CMYK setup. Creating new colours through layering has always fascinated Giles, and now he’s taken inspiration from the complexities of colour and design found in Ireland’s natural flora, such as the sunflowers in the glasshouses of Glasnevin. In the wake of COVID-19, Giles seeks to inspire colour and positivity with new prints based on intricate plantlife patterns, embracing an ethos of growth, rebirth, and affirmation which is innate in the natural world.
